Mrs. Anita Shaunik, Member Governing Body
“Born, brought up and married into the Armed forces, I did not hesitate to join Chelsea. Imbibing dedication and living life for the well-being of others is what we are much familiar with. This organisation is doing just that and so when Mrs Doe Nair included me in her setup, I was more than honoured.
Reading, writing, interior decoration and gardening are some of my passions. Life has been kind and I am fortunate and proud to have a wonderful family. My husband took pre-mature retirement from the Army a year back. He seems to be reasonably settled in the civil world. My daughter and son are college going and are fine adults.”

Prerna Sharma, Member Governing Body
“I am happy to be in the governing body of WAG…Chelsea. Being a Public Service Broadcaster I responsible for making films which are beneficial for our audiences. It is my firm belief that if I have to do something related to HIV/AIDS, it cannot be completed without the help of WAG…Chelsea. After visiting many NGOs working with the PLHAs I can easily differentiate between the working style of WAG…Chelsea and others. I really have no words to appreciate the way they work in all areas related to HIV/AIDS.”

“Hi,
This is Manju Manak and my association with WAG…CHELSEA is a decade old. It has been a beautiful journey and every day has given me something new to learn. It has further helped me improve my weaknesses and turn them into strengths.
I am looking after the children’s project so I really want to do something for the children at the National level. I know it is difficult but with perseverance I will succeed.
I owe a lot to my organization and to the staff who is working with me. I just want to assure them that with hard work, commitment and dedication we will obtain our objectives…. “To provide an enabling environment for our children by providing quality education and health services to help them become productive and responsible members of our nation and society.”
Mr. Sumit Verma, Member Governing Body
“Hi,
This is Sumit Verma and my association with WAG…CHELSEA is 10 years old. It has been a beautiful journey with WAG…CHELSEA. I have learnt a lot from this organization and want to give back to it by continuing to work in my sincere way and always be available for the organization and the beneficiaries.
I aim to get onto fund raising and seeking worthwhile projects which will take our beneficiaries towards better health and educational facilities to make a visible difference in their quality of life. I live to Give care and love to those who are in need. I believe it is the best service to God and mankind.”
Mr. Harish Verma, Member Governing Body
“Hello friends,
I am Harish Verma and on 21st. December 2009, I will be completing 10 years of social service with WAG …CHELSEA. When I joined this organization I had no experience in the Social Development sector. I started my career as a Care Giver in the Care Home. It was an amazing experience. We were trained to look after bed patients and naturally we had to learn how to bathe and clean the patient who was bedridden… this involved bed pans too!! I had never seen an ill patient or one close to death but in WAG … CHELSEA I worked closely with the dying and the very first death I witnessed in my life was with CHELSEA. We bathed, cleaned and dressed the body and took it to the cremation ground. These were all firsts in my life. In the organization we were taught not to be afraid of death as it was part life and when I witnessed the death and did the last rites I was not afraid.
I then joined the Outreach team and today I am a Programme Manager. I grew and continue to grow with the organization. I am today working with FSWs and it is my aim and desire that this marginalized group of people gain a respectable place in society and that their children receive equal opportunities in life like quality education and health services.”
Mr. Paritosh Mittal, Member Governing Body
“I have spent nine years with WAG… CHELSEA in various capacities. But I would like you to know that I first met the WAG … CHELSEA group in 1997 when I was a very young man doing voluntary work with another organization. I was very impressed with the CHELSEA group and wished to join them but Mrs. Nair said to me that at the time they only had volunteers working for them but as soon as they were in a position to employ staff they would let me know immediately. That ,ofcourse, is history.
I have worked as a CARE Giver in the CARE HOME, outreach worker, Counselor and Trainer.
I have learnt to take Care of Bed ridden patients, which helped me to take good care of my father who suffered a stroke and had a paralyzed right side thereafter. Even today, when I see patients lying in bed helpless, I reach out to them with the knowledge and expertise I gained in the CARE home.
I have learnt to communicate with the illiterate and empathize with the unfortunate. Most of us in CHELSEA are multi skilled and as such I am a Trainer and a counselor too. I would, with my effort, like to carry forward the work being done by us in CHELSEA for the most vulnerable groups, especially, women and children.”
Mr. Jomy Joy, Member Governing Body
“I still recall my first day at Chelsea… a meek, indecisive youth with no clarity on what he wanted to accomplish in life, except for the fact, that he wanted to provide for a higher education for his sister and support his mother.
Today, ten years later, when I look back, I can see the dramatic change that Chelsea has brought to my entire persona. I have lost count of what all I have attained. I’m confident, have vision, clarity of thought and above all content with my life. In truth I have grown with the organisation.
Be it conducting workshops for truck drivers, going to slums and educating people, or just being part of any training program, all of these has impacted my whole being and added new dimensions to the way I view life. But, it is being with my children that enriches me the most and brings home the manifold joy of being a ‘Chelseaite’. Our beneficiaries are an extended family and their needs drive me to go that extra mile and do better.
When I got married my friends teased me and said ‘when you become a father you would be a ‘fully’ trained father…’ now when I hold my son, I realize the truth of that statement, this truth was gifted to me by ‘our children’ in CHELSEA, their smiles, glittering eyes and naughtiness bring me great joy.
Timely structured training programmes, immense opportunity, unlatched working atmosphere and trust of seniors and colleagues enabled me to add new leaves to this euphoria called Chelsea… I feel thankful and indebted to the organization.”
